133rd Kentucky Derby - Louisville, KY

Street Sense makes an impressive run from at one point, the 19th position, to take the 133rd Run for the Roses. What would be the first win for jockey Calvin Borel, and second for trainer Carl Nafzger, made for an extremely long couple days for lots of our crew...Congrats to both of them and to us for an impressive showing on the first Saturday in May. Here are the pics...

Reds Opening Day - Cincinnati, OH

I love baseball. LOVE IT! I love the reds, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to get to go to opening day in Cincinnati. To actually get to walk around on the field before the game and meet guys like Adam Dunn and Ken Griffey Jr.....just sweet. Here you go.

McDonald's HS All-Star game - Louisville, KY

Got to watch the best high school basketball players in the country play a while back. Unfortunately, I didn't get to take very many pics because we were so busy. Only two this time.

This is already on the blog once, but John Wooden is so awesome
he deserves to be posted on here again.

Golden Gopher Hunting - Minneapolis, MN

Took a not so random trip to the University of Minnesota, to cover the announcement of Tubby Smith, the former UK head basketball coach, as the new head coach of the Golden Gophers. All in all it was a long trip, which resulted in some great OT in the pay column. Here are some pics...

NCAA Tournament - Chicago, IL

Covered the Cats in Chicago for the NCAA tournament. Got a chance to walk around downtown on St. Paddy's Day, but with the Cat's losing to Kansas, our NCAA road trip didn't last more than the first and second round. Here are some pics.

SEC TOURNAMENT - Atlanta, GA

Spent some time in the Georgia Dome for the SEC Tournament earlier this year. UK lost in the second round, so we didn't spend as much time as we'd have liked to. Here are some pics from the trip.

Hit the ground running...

So, I have decided to start a picture blog. I had a blog back in the day, but I never updated it. I used to think that I like to write, but really the old blog pretty much proved that I didn't like to. I also stopped that one, because I felt the management at my old station was reading too much into my rants. Since I get to go on all these awesome trips with work I am starting a new one, that is going to have pictures from my adventures in the sports world. Here is the first one.

The WIZARD OF WESTWOOD. THE GREATEST COACH
to ever live.....JOHN WOODEN!

I have never really been star struck before, but to meet John Wooden was about the coolest thing I have done since taking the sports job. The road trips are great, don't get me wrong, but we are talking about a man who could put a national championship ring on every finger. Flat out AWESOME!
